A talk on Anandamitra-Vibekananda Buddhist Books Publication:

West Andarmanik is a very well-known village at Raozan Upa-zilla in the district of Chittagong, Bangladsh. This pious village gave birth to many renowned monks of high moral. Among them Ven. Sanganayak Anandamirtra Mahathera and Ven. Dharmadut Vibakananda Thero are note worthy.

Ven. Anandamitra Mahathera comes off a respectable Buddhist family on 1st February in the year 1908. His father's name was Capru Barua, a renowned  Kabarj of that time and his mother's name was Dayamanti Barua, a pious lady. His public name was Jatindra Barua. He obtained his Matriculation (equivalent to S.S.C.) in the 1st division in 1928 and then he went to Burma (Now Myanmar) for higher studies in medicine. While residing in Burma he was deeply moved by the religious morals of Buddhism and became a monk. After ordination as monk, he absorbed in meditation and religious studies. He also got himself admitted to the Buddhist Universities of Burma and Sreelanka. He had a sound knowledge in Buddhist-Meditation (Vipossana) and Buddhist philosophy. He wrote many books, articales and features etc. which published in many newspapers and journals. Later he went to India for Piligrimage in 1964 and settled their permanently for the deep respect and request of Buddhist devotees. He traveled many foreign countries to attend international invitations. As reward of his contribution to the Buddhist society and Dharma he was elected “Pradan Sanganayak” of Akil Barat Bhikkhusanga. He is an unparallel meditation teacher and religious leader. He breathed his last on 4th March in the year 1999 in India and left many disciples and well-wisher.

Ven. Dharmadut Vibakananda Thero was born on 16th February in the year 1963. His father’s name was Parimal Chandra Barua, and mother’s name was Pritee Rani Barua. His Grnadfather, Mr. Barada Mahazan was a renowned social worker and keen to spread education. For this he established a primary school, donating his own land to the then British Government. He also helped the school committee to flourish this school to high level. Ven. Vibakananda Thero’s public name was Pradhyta Barua . He passed S.S.C. from Ram Mohan High School in 1983 and H.S.C. from Noapara College in 1985 and Degree from the same college in 1988. He obtained his M.A. in Pali and Buddhist studies from Dhaka University and ordinand as Monk on 3rd June 1990 under the Upadhay of International Buddhist Leader, Renowned humanist, recipient of many National and International awards for his splendid contribution to the society, Most respected and Most Ven. Vivakananda Mahathero. He was the principal and director of “Bangladesh Buddhist Monastery” Budgaya  donated by Mrs. Indra Ghandi  the former Prime Minister of India. He achieved his title “Dharmadut” for his contribution to international relationship with home and aboard. While residing in India he passed M.A. in English from the University of Magada and also attending the research works of Ph.D. on Buddhist Literature and art. He published many articles on Buddhism and its society and  in also its problems: in many newspapers. This flourishing Buddhist Monk Suddenly nibbed in the bud (died) on the 8th June in the year 2003 at the age of 41(forty one).

               Anandamirtra-Vivakananda Buddhist Books Publication has been established to commemorate these two brilliant Sanga personalities of west Andarmanik i.e. the enlighten Buddhist society as a whole. The achievement of this publication for the preacher and expansion of Buddhism in Bangladesh is a handsome one. From the year 2004 to till date it published 9(Nine) religious books. Hope too more books religious books are going to be published in near future.
